As a college student, you should ask yourself the following questions?
Are you ...?
- Unsure of how to gain valuable experience?
- Confused about how to find a co-op?
- Facing graduation with little or no experience?
- Confused about what companies you can work for?
- Feeling unsure of your career path?
- Searching for your ideal career?
- Seeking help in developing a job search plan?
- Trying to discover the keys to career success?
So how can the Office of Career Services help you?
- We host job fairs on campus several times throughout the academic year where employers are seeking to fill co-op positions
- We host on-campus interviews – Employers interview Lawrence Tech students on campus
- We offer workshops and individual career coaching to assist with the career planning process
- We offer an online job posting system, Handshake, where you can research employers and apply for co-op positions
Being a part of the Co-op Program is not a requirement in fulfillment to graduate from Lawrence Tech, but is highly recommended. However, there are academic programs that mandate to complete a co-op, internship, or some type of field experience to graduate. Students should meet with their faculty advisor to discuss the process if that requirement relates to their major(s).
Once a student has been offered a co-op position and would like to receive academic credit, then the Office of Career Services will evaluate the work assignment(s) and approve registration. Newly hired co-op students will need to provide the Office of Career Services a copy of the job offer letter to validate co-op employment.
Co-op students must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.25 to be in the program .

What is involved in each Co-op Practicum?
Co-op Practicum I - During your first co-op practicum, you are introduced to a company that will provide training and professional development. You will be given at least one co-op assignment/project for each semester from your assigned supervisor.
Co-op Practicum II - During your second co-op practicum, you are continuing to work with the previous employer from the first co-op practicum or with a new company. You may be given a different co-op assignment/project or continue work from the previous co-op practicum.
Co-op Practicum III - During your third and final co-op practicum, you are continuing to work with the previous employer from the second co-op practicum or with a new company. You may be given a different co-op assignment/project or continue work from the previous co-op practicum.
It is important to note that course requirements are based on which co-op practicum a student is enrolled in for each work term. Thus, students in the Co-op Practicum I have different requirements than students enrolled in Co-op Practicum II. The same is true for students in Co-op Practicum III. Listed below are the course requirements for this semester. The third co-op class will culminate in a formal presentation and paper to be completed in front of peers, Career Services staff, and faculty members.
Attention Registered Co-Op Students: All Co-Op assignments are viewed and completed through Canvas. Please login to your Canvas account and select your appropriate Co-Op course. Contact the Office of Career Services at ltuocs@ltzz.net if you have any questions.
